Our Story

The Beginning

We met at Montclair State University in the Admissions Office where I worked as a student ambassador and Anthony was beginning his career. We shyly flirted over social media for several months before Anthony asked me out on a date. When I found out his favorite band was performing in my home country of Denmark, I planned a trip for us to go see them. Anthony later told me that arranging that trip showed him how much his happiness means to me, and that he knew from that moment this relationship was not like any he’d had before. This relationship was going to be an adventure every day, full of energy and life. This was The One.

The Proposal

On 12/13/14, months of planning came together when I took Maj to one of her favorite places in the world, Top of the Rock Observatory at Rockefeller Center in New York City. There, with the view of the Empire State Building behind us, Maj heard my friend playing our song, The Book of Love, nearby. As she pieced together what was happening, I dropped to my knee and asked Maj to be my wife. After she joyfully said yes, we were greeted as a newly engaged couple by Maj's sister and closest friends, who were dutifully in hiding nearby to celebrate the happy occasion.

The Future

With wedding planning under way, we adopted our foster cats, Westley and Buttercup, officially making us a family. To help capture the spirit of our engagement, we ventured to The Strand Bookstore in New York City for a special photo shoot with Lin Pernille Photography. Books are very significant to us, so we felt being surrounded by classical literature would be a perfect setting for our engagement pictures. See for yourself below! With the ceremony drawing closer, we look forward to being surrounded by our close friends and loved ones at our wedding. We can’t wait to spend our lives together caring for the cats and sharing our mutual love of good food and corny jokes!

Both the ceremony and reception will be held in the same place, Rock Island Lake Club, located at 485 Glen Road in Sparta, NJ. For directions, please click here.

Frequently Asked Questions

While you don't have to don full black tie attire, this is a formal occasion so a suit & tie or cocktail/formal dress are appropriate. Ultimately, however, we want you to feel comfortable and free to dance, so wear what you'll feel your best in! The ceremony and reception are indoors and there will be a coat check available.

We suggest that guests of the groom wear something RED and guests of the bride wear something BLUE to show your relation to the couple!
The ceremony will begin at 12:30pm, so we'd suggest arriving about half an hour early, around noon. Drinks like mimosas, iced tea, water, and lemonade will be available before the start of the ceremony.
The venue has a lot with plenty of space and is providing valet parking.
The ceremony and reception will be inside, so we'll be warm and cozy no matter what the weather! Our venue will remain open unless New Jersey declares a state of emergency, and Anthony's groomsmen have graciously volunteered to clear off everyone's cars at the end of the reception. This wedding is like the US post office: "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night" will keep us from tying the knot!
We ask that guests refrain from taking pictures during the ceremony. We want you to fully experience this moment rather than watching through a camera lens or phone screen. After the ceremony, however, you are more than welcome to take pictures! (Just try not to block the photographers) If you post pictures to Instagram, use the hashtag #MoochLoved so it gets added to our feed! You can view the live feed at www.moochlove.com/pics (Note that your pictures will only show if your account is public).
We are grateful to already have a furnished home together, so we don't have much need or room for any more household items. We do love sharing adventures and experiences (skiing or dance classes, for instance!) and we'd definitely appreciate help with our ongoing home improvement projects, but more than anything we want to see your smiling faces as we exchange vows and celebrate the beginning of the next step of our lives together!
If you have any questions before the day of the wedding, you can email us at info@moochlove.com. When the big day comes, however, we will not be reachable (busy getting married and all, ya know?). We have a day-of info sheet (PDF download) that has the address and directions to the venue, as well as the number for our banquet manager whom you can text or call if you're lost or have a question.
You can RSVP by clicking the link at the top of this page, or here: moochlove.com/rsvp. If you'd rather respond by mail, please fill out and send the back of the RSVP card you received with your invitation. We ask that you please respond by January 15, 2016.
